The most beautiful painting of the world

A long time ago, there was an artist who wished to create the most beautiful painting in the world. Seeking guidance, he approached his guru and asked, “Gurudev, what is the most beautiful thing in this world? Please enlighten me.”

The guru smiled and replied, “The most beautiful thing in this world is faith. There is nothing more beautiful than faith. You can witness it at every place of worship.”

However, the artist was not completely satisfied with this answer. He decided to continue his search. On his way home, he encountered a newlywed woman and asked her the same question, “What is the most beautiful thing in this world?” After thinking for a moment, she replied, “The most beautiful thing is love. If there is love, wealth and poverty lose their meaning. Love is what has made this world worth living.”

Though her response was insightful, the artist still felt a sense of incompleteness. He continued his journey and met a soldier. The artist posed the same question to him. The soldier responded, “The most beautiful thing is peace. When we face death multiple times during war, we come to realize how precious peace is. Compared to peace, everything else feels insignificant.”

The artist, reflecting on faith, love, and peace, made his way home. He wondered how he could capture all three elements in a single painting. What could he create that would encompass them all?

Lost in thought, he reached home. His wife greeted him with a warm smile, and his children ran to him and embraced him. In that moment, the artist realized that what he had been searching for was right in his own home. He saw faith in his children’s eyes, love pouring from his wife’s gaze, and his home radiating peace, making it nothing less than a divine sanctuary.

Without delay, the artist began painting. He created a captivating picture of his home and took it to his guru. Showing the painting, he said, “Gurudev, this picture feels like the most beautiful to me. What do you think?”

The guru carefully observed the painting, smiled, and replied thoughtfully, “Indeed, a home is a temple of faith, love, and peace. This is truly the most beautiful painting.”
